GROUP THERAPY

In general, therapy provides awareness and insight into the roles, both positive and negative, we play in the events and relationships of which we are a part. In group therapy, hearing feedback and learning from others fosters awareness that one is not unique in his/her problems and responses. This awareness is the basis for the change and healing that occurs.  At PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTANTS of FORT WORTH, we work within the safe, comforting boundaries of the groups to maximize the potential for patients to learn about themselves and try new ways of responding to situations.
Our groups are general psychotherapy process groups.  They are long term group psychotherapy groups for patients who benefit from this continuous weekly therapeutic environment in a safe and nurturing manner.  Participants can enter these groups at any time even though they are ongoing as each group session stands on its own as well as builds on previous group experiences.  It is the intention of this type of group to offer a modality that will enable its participants to deal with the ongoing problems in their lives as well as previous problems.  The safety and nurturing of this type of group is the cornerstone of its approach to helping patients.
